300 Hour Yoga Therapy Program in Sedona

November 3 - December 15th, 2012

7 Centers Yoga Arts is are now offering a 300 hour program of advanced studies in a six week format, one of our tracks to get a 500 hour Yoga Teacher certificate. This training introduces yoga therapy as as a holistic modality that can support the healing of chronic medical conditions as well as recovery from injury and surgery through a diversity of yogic practices.
The primary yogic lineages followed in this training are that of Swami Satyananda of the Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, India and Rama Jyoti Vernon, founder of the International Yoga College. The curriculum is also inspired by the teachings of Dr. Vasant Lad of the Ayurvedic Institute and Dr. David Frawley of the American Institute of Vedic Studies . This yoga therapy curriculum includes a strong emphasis on Ayurveda, which is foundational is developing skills in diagnosis and assessment of imbalance. The focus will be on food and culinary herbs as a support for the yoga therapy. In addition, the psychology around imbalance, chronic conditions and health dysfunctions will be addressed through the practices of Yoga Nidra and the yogic philosopy of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. In this six weeks, the anatomy will include an emphasis on the muscular - skeletal system addressing common spine, back and joint issues related to injury - an area where yoga in mainstream is known for being particularly effective.

Prerequisites
All applicants must have a 200 hour yoga teacher certificate from a registered Yoga Alliance program. If the goal is a 500 hour certificate, the student must provide documentation showing the equivalent of 100 hours of teaching in a formal or informal setting. Upon acceptance, students will be a sent a required reading list along with an open book review of basic anatomy that must be completed and returned 30 days prior to the start of the program.
Tuition
The donation for the course is $4,990. This includes tuition for the 6 week course, Ayurvedic breakfast and lunch five days a week and two textbooks, Yogic Management of Common Diseases by Dr. Swami Karmananda and Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Banda by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
A deposit of $1,000 along with your completed application form, will reserve your place. Deposits are non-refundable. If we receive written cancellation at least four weeks before the start of the training, your deposit will be transferrable and can be used for any 7 Centers classes, workshops, trainings or retreats. If less than four weeks' notice, your entire deposit will be forfeited. The balance of $3,990 is due 30 days before the start of the course and once the course starts, there are NO refunds. The fee is not transferrable to another person.
The training is sponsored by Mystis, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 educational organization founded in 2000. Your donation furthers the work of Mystis, Inc. and promotes all aspects of the teachings of Yoga to create healthier and more holistic living in our communities. To apply for the yoga therapy program, please fill out and return the Registration form along with a current photo of yourself. You will then be contacted by phone for a personal interview with the course leader prior to acceptance. The purpose of this interview is to discuss what you want to accomplish through attending this training and that our entry requirements can be met by the start of the program.
Housing
We are a non-residential yoga center however we will provide assistance in finding appropriate housing during the training which may be with friends and families of 7 Centers that are accustomed to hosting students in our programs. You can expect to pay between $700 - $1000 for the six weeks, including utilities for a room and bathroom with access to kitchen facilities for evening meals. Upon receiving your registration form, we will send you the names and contact numbers for potential housing situations. If you would like, you can also look at vacation rentals or sharing housing with other students.

Ruth Hartung, (Shraddhasagar) still feels blessed to be a co-founder and Director of 7 Centers Yoga Arts where she has led courses in yoga teacher trainings since 2001, developing the 200 and 500 hour trainings as well as a Conflict Resolution program based on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. The courses have afforded a unique opportunity to observe and work with the mind/body/spirit relationship in students while doing intensive yoga practices which has served as a training ground for the integration of therapeutic yoga, philosphy and plant medicine at the center. She has also served as president of the International Yoga College, founded by Rama Jyoti Vernon, her mentor and teacher. Currently she is also vice-president of Gardens for Humanity, a non-profit dedicated to gardening, ecology and sustainability in the community and is using these principles as a context for the teaching of the yoga and ayurveda in the trainings.

Jeff Masters LMT, CPT, CYT, MSc. (Hon.), a visionary healer and teacher, has been researching the human energy field and consciousness for over 30 years. In that time he has studied with some of the most luminous minds in the field of mind/body science including Marcel Vogel (IBM & Psychic Research Inc.), Paul St. John (St. John's Neuromuscular Therapy), Rama Jyoti Vernon and Dr. Vasant Lad. His education includes graduating from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, a certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and being awarded an honorary masters degree in Anatomy and Physiology from the Open International University for Complimentary Medicine. In addition, Jeff is also a graduate of 7 Centers Yoga and Kundalini Teacher trainings. He is the founder and director of Thunder Mountain Wellness, a Sedona based facility with a focus on physical, mental and energetic wellbeing and the realization of the fully actualized human potential.

Mira Murphy has been the Ayurvedic Chef for yoga teachers in training at 7 Centers for the past 3 years and has studied yoga and Ayurveda in India. As part of her ongoing love of food, nutrition, plants and healing - Mira has been integrating the use of Ayurveda as medicine through food and spices into the daily menus for the yoga trainings. In addition she has been learning about the wildcrafting of southwest native plants while studying with herbalists and growing food for the kitchen in 7Center's garden plots at the Crescent Moon Community garden part of the "From the Gardent to the Table" program. |
